General

In Zambia along the banks of the Zambezi River, 18 km from the Lower Zambezi National Park in the Chiawa Game Management area, lays Mvuu Lodge, “Place of the hippo”.  The wild animals roam casually through the camp providing you with a truly unforgettable experience.

The luxury safari tents, each with en suite facilities, are on raised wooden decks overlooking the river blend in naturally with the surrounding vegetation. In keeping with the tranquil & unspoilt surroundings, Mvuu Lodge minimizes the use of the Generator and use Hurricane Lamps for lighting, which enhances the African bush experience. The campsites are situated in close proximity to the Lodge and are nestled in thick bush under a canopy of indigenous trees, providing a cool haven from the African Sun.
 
Enjoy a sundowner as time comes to a standstill when the sun gently melts away on the horizon and the nightlife start to buzz. Every day at Mvuu Lodge ends around the warmth of a log fire accompanied by the sounds of the African bush.

Accommodation

Luxury Safari Tents (7)
Spacious safari tents under a thatched roof and on a raised wooden deck provide you with all the comforts you need. Stylishly decorated with ensuite facilities and 24 hrs hot water means you don’t have to rough it to really experience Africa. You can enjoy the wild life roaming freely through the camp form the comfort of your patio or even while you relax on your bed.

Self Catering Tents (3)
The same style and comfort as our luxury tents but with the additional self catering facilities. This means you have a private braai area plus a gas cooker, cutlery & crockery. Currently we only have one family unit that sleeps 4 people in one room. The other 2 units sleep 2 people in twin or double beds.

Camping (4 sites)
We have 4 camping sites namely Monkey, Mvuu, Elly and Leopard. Each one with its own braai & ablution facilities comprising of a hot shower, flush toilet and wash basin. The ablution facilities are enclosed by stone walls and roofed by the majestic Zambian sky. The campsites are situated in close proximity to the Lodge and are nestled in thick bush under a canopy of indigenous trees, providing a cool haven from the African Sun. Monkey is a grass camping site that can accommodate about 10 tents or 5 vehicles, while Mvuu can take about 3 cars, Elly about 4 cars and Leopard about 2 cars. Please keep in mind that each camp has only one ablution block.


Facilities

Restaurant & Bar
Relax at the bar with a chilled glass of wine or an ice cold beer & enjoy the view of the mighty Zambezi at your footsteps. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch & dinner on a set menu basis and the bar is open from 10 till 22:00. If you are camping or on a self catering package you are more than welcome to join us at the bar or restaurant for a meal or two if you are not in the mood for cooking. We do ask that you book these meals in advance with your accommodation so that the kitchen can plan ahead in terms of supplies.

Swimming pool
A refreshing swim and a nap underneath the big shady trees is just what the doctor ordered to relieve stress & tension.

Curio Shop
We support the local community projects and sell their hand crafted gifts in our curio shop. Get something for your loved ones back home that is unique and at the same time you are supporting a good cause.

Cell phone reception
We are one of the few lodges who have cell phone reception in designated areas.
We now also have a cell phone booster which makes internet access possible.

Medical
We strongly advise clients to take out sufficient travel & medical insurance. As the lodge is situated in a malaria area, it is also advised that clients take malaria prophylactics before and after they stay at the lodge.
